Nathalie Du Pasquier's Onion is part of a unique series of fruit bowls whose names playfully reference vegetables. Along with Cauliflower and Carrot, these handmade ceramics are decorated with kiln-sublimated decals. The contrasting colors and playful shapes are a symbol of Memphis' ability to innovate even the most traditional objects.

Nathalie Du Pasquier, French artist and designer, was born in Bordeaux in 1957 and has lived and worked in Milan since 1979. In 1981, Du Pasquier, a self-taught designer, became a leading figure in the Memphis movement. Her numerous designs for decorated surfaces such as fabrics, carpets, furniture, and plastic laminates played a key role in creating the unmistakable Memphis style. Despite her success as a designer, from 1987, when Memphis dissolved, painting became her primary activity. Du Pasquier's ongoing research encompasses paintings, sculptures, drawings, models, constructions, carpets, books, and ceramics, constantly exploring the boundaries between representational and nonrepresentational, tangible and intangible, reality and imagination, and two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms.
