SNAKE Tavolino

Proudly non–coherent, Meritalia® emancipates itself from the static tradition of interior design and presents an object that celebrates restlessness. Denying the fixity of the coffee table, usually a mere "accessory" completing the classic living room, Meritalia® creates Snake: a coffee table that elegantly slithers at the centre of every room, to become its main character. 

Designed by Carlo Contin, Snake crawls into the living room, coiling itself  in ever–changing configurations to conquer its space. Eight or five circular table–tops of different heights and three diameters (30, 40 and 50 cm) unfold in different ways according to the taste and whim of those who choose it. To own Snake is to be a furnishing enchanter, charming the modular composition in place, but without fixing it into a permanent composition. 

Snake is available in two multicoloured combinations or in polished steel, whose sharp reflections capture every movement of the bodies in the surroundings,  enhancing the liveliness of the piece.

Carlo Contin was born in 1967 in Limbiate, Italy. He founded his design and interior architecture studio in 1998, after gaining experience working in his family's business, specialized in custom-made furniture. In 1999, he made his debut as a designer by showcasing his first pieces at the Salone Satellite. Since then, he has collaborated with some of the most renowned design firms in Italy and also internationally, and has participated in numerous exhibitions across the globe. In 2010, the Triennale di Milano honored him with a solo exhibition, "Intervent nella Sfera Domestica". In 2013, his exhibition "Avvitamenti" at Subalterno1 showcased a new collection of objects, the result of his research into wood craftsmanship.
